BUILDING A POND

BUILDING A HIBERNACULUM

                              HELP YOUR LOCAL WILDLIFE

 1.  Provide water in some form, e.g a birdbath or pond of some kind.

 2.  Grow a vertical habitat - for shelter, nesting and insect hunting.

 3.  Choose plants with different flowering seasons and single blooms.

 4.  Plant bushes and shrubs that produce berries.

 5.  Put up bird feeders and fat balls.

 6.  Compost your kitchen and garden waste.

 7.  Build a log pile or leave old tree stumps for insects.

 8.  Provide nest boxes and a variety of insect houses.

 9.  Choose nectar rich plants to help struggling bee populations.

10.  Have an area of long grass or mini meadow.

11.  Add a bog garden or use as an alternative to a pond.

12.  Build a hibernaculum of some kind.

13.  Avoid pesticides where possible.
