QUANTOCK PONIES

The Quantock pony is not a true breed.

Ponies on the quantocks were originally pure Exmoors, as are those found grazing on Cothelstone Hill.

Arab and part arab stallions have run with the mares over the years, providing a variety of offspring.

Quantock ponies are rounded up in September so the young can be taken off the hillside before the winter.

The car park at Dead Womans Ditch is a popular gathering point for the ponies late afternoon.
