Bank Voles
Bank voles are the smallest of the UK's voles.
Bank voles have round faces, long tails, clearly visible ears and are brown on top when adult.
They weigh between 15 and 40g and look about the same size as a hamster.
They breed between April and October and can produce 4 litters in a year.
Bank voles eat buds, leaves, fruit and insects.
They are not as keen on badgers as badgers are on them - the badgers would like to eat them.
Small holes dotted about your lawn could well indicate the presence of bank voles.
