Having recently featured in a BBC2 documentary - The Great British Garden Watch and spent over 6 months with regular visits from Dragonfly Film & Televsion, I have now been asked to provide voice over for a twitter followers video clip and been recommended to springwatch.  Here's hoping its a sign of more involvement with wildlife in the public eye.

Time to Draw Breath

Its been a somewhat hectic summer with a big wild boar filming piece in the Forest of Dean, some small bits for a poduction company and a lot of weddings.  I prefer wildlife, but at least weddings are predictable.

Frogs on film...

Out comes the sunshine and out come the frogs.  Finally managed to capture 3 seprate frogs on film - Daddy frog, mummy frog and baby frog; well perhaps not quite, but they were almost three different sizes and one was defintely last years baby.  Lovely close up of shining golden eyes and webbed feet.  Fabulous!

Frogs and Damselflies

What a spring!

We have been filming the development of frog spawn in thepond, right through to it hatching and dispersing.  Now we hope the newts don't eat them all.

Last year we filmed the large red damselflies laying their eggs in the reed stems.  We have found the odd nymph while removing unwanted weed from the pond and now we have them emerging on sunny days.  So far we have missed them actually leaving the water, but we have managed to film the newly emerged damselflies and the casts left behind.

Also got to try out the new macro lens on a newly emerged angle shades moth.  What an amazing sight - a great purchase.

Weddings & Wildlife

Hard to imagine that combination, but its true.  We are filming a wedding in June with a barn owl and butterflies.  A chance to show our skills in two areas at once.

Our wild boar filming is fast approaching, lets hope the weather holds.

Wild Boar & Deer Rescue

Great project in the planning with the UK Wild Boar Trust (UKWBT).  Spotters will he heading to the Forest of Dean in April to help us track down these fascinating creatures.  We will be filming a promotional piece for the UKWBT website and a short documentary piece too.  We hope to dispel the myths surrounding these creatures and promote a more balanced approach.

Also ready to start filming at the South West Deer Rescue Centre, oh, and we have a wedding to film too - unlike wildlife, people will stand where they are told...lol

12 month project lined up

Today, we met one of life's characters, the only man I have ever seen who can cuddle a red deer stag in the middle of the rutting season.  Quite remarkable.  Going to be making him a web video in the coming months and, over time, a documentary piece for DVD sales.  Now thats going to be a lot of work, but also a lot of fun.  We may even get to film deer giving birth.

Live radio and filming

Just as you think you are busy enough, everything else happens.  As we branch into filming video clips for other companies, the radio side of things expands to include a forthcoming live outside broadcast and more interviews with experts round the county.  Website redesign also underway in highly capable hands.

On the Radio

Branching out into radio now.  I am running a fortnightly radio slot on community radio - 10radio

So far I have covered hedgehogs, butterflies and bats.  Why not listen to the community show on Friday mornings and see what you think.
